שִׁיכּוּן

שִׁיכּוּן, שִׁכּ׳m. (שָׁכַן; v. Del. Assyr. Handw. s. v. שכן) establishment, realization, execution; use of the phrase כן עשה. Gen. R. s. 31, end (ref. to Gen. 6:22) זה ש׳ לעשיית התיבח this refers to the carrying out of the command to make the ark; ib. s. 32 (ref. to ib. 7:5 ויעש … ככלוכ׳) זה ש׳ לכינוס בהמה this refers to the execution of the command to bring in the beasts; Yalk. ib. 55; 56 שכיון (corr. acc.). Gen. R. s. 34 (ref. to Gen. 8:20 a. 9:1) זה ש׳ לזכות הקרבנות (not שיכן בזכות) this is an establishment (standard passage, cmp. בנין אב, s. v. אָב) of the reward of sacrifices.
